Expedition Around the Globe Summer Arts Camp: Exploring the African Rainforest

Darlington's International Summer Arts Camp has been wildly successful at providing students with international awareness while gaining skills from professionals in the visual arts, music, dance and drama. Students will learn about the rich cultural traditions of the African Rainforest, including African masks and the unique habitat. The campers will be divided into groups by age: Preschool Half-Day (ages 3 - 5), Full-Day Program (ages 5 - 7 & 8 - 12) and Half-Day Program (ages 6 - 9). Times vary: 9am - 3pm, with pre-camp care and after-camp care available.

Kids Construct

This do-it-yourself area contains four environments that let children take on the role of designer, builder, and architect. In the Treehouse area, children can build with pipes, paint and finish building their treehouses, communicate through talk tubes, and hunt for squirrels. Inside the Playhouse, there's plenty of remodeling to do; kids can lay tile, change light fixtures, put up wallpaper, and sew curtains.

(Thru Oct. 13) Architectural Wonders of the World is the 2008 theme for Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railway display Scores of new buildings at the Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railway this summer will transport visitors to the far ends of the earth. Spanning the globe, visitors will experience magical visits to The Great Wall of China (China), The Taj Mahal (India), Hagia Sophia (Istanbul), Tikal (Guatemala) Maachu Picchu (Peru), Petra (Jordan), the Giza Pyramid and Alexandria Light House (Egypt), and The Eiffel Tower (Paris).
