Description: The New Jersey State Museum was established in 1895-one of the nation's first state museums founded with an educational mission. Today that mission encompasses four areas: archaeology/ ethnology, cultural history, fine art, and natural history. The State Museum combines four museums in one providing a galaxy of experiences for every member of the family. Treasures are exhibited thematically in a modern four-level main building overlooking the Delaware River and are enhanced by exciting programs offered in an adjoining 150-seat planetarium and adjacent 380-seat auditorium.
