In addition to the Spook-tacular event, children can also visit Giggleberry Mountain, the largest indoor obstacle course in the area. “Our whole concept is the celebration of families.
It’s affordable. It’s safe. It creates lifelong memories with your kids.
It’s a real celebration of fall for families,” said Kathy Bailey, an
event organizer for the show. “Our pumpkin show is unique and different.
I’m from Ohio and I brought a little bit of the Circleville Pumpkin Show
with me.” The city of Circleville has a water tower with the water tank
on top painted as a pumpkin! Your little girl could enter the Little
Miss Pumpkin Show on Sunday and feel like a princess or your little boy
could watch the Pumpkin Weigh-Off Friday. Last year, Robert Novak of
Mount Laurel won the contest with a pumpkin weighing in at a whopping
814 pounds. On Saturday, the Halloween Costume Contest & Parade starts
off at 3 p.m. for kids 3-10, and every kid will receive a ribbon and one
will get a grand prize. But there’s so much more: a Pumpkin Painting
Contest, a Pumpkin Pie & Pumpkin Dessert contest, a Scarecrow Contest, a
Decorated Baby Stroller Parade and Contest, free hayrides, and the list
goes on, so you’ll have to visit their Web site to find out all the
delicious details. The first 150 children to enter the show each day
will receive a free pumpkin, and every child will get a
trick-or-treating bag. Different events take place on different days, so
check the schedule, but you might just want to go all three days.

Your kids can even hop on a hayride and then head off to have their fortunes told and hear spooky local and traditional ghost stories. The best part is the children’s costume parade that begins promptly at noon so get there early.

After the readings, magician Jeff Ragan will perform some of his spookiest tricks. On both nights, there will be a costume contest for the best dressed child and adult. Jane Toczek, Halloween Coordinator, said, “We’ve had a lot of positive feedback. People enjoyed it—so we keep doing it.” Reservations are recommended.

And who can forget their other two activities during HorrorFest: The Barn of Horror and Alien Invasion. Young kids may not be ready for these features of the farm, but your older children will be game, if they’re up for a fright.
