Your
experience begins in the Museum of American Glass with an eye-dazzling
panorama of 6,500 objects on display in sunlit galleries and three major
exhibitions. Don’t miss the world’s tallest bottle!
Watch world class glass art created in the Glass Studio in the T. C.
Wheaton Glass Factory. Special demonstrations are offered throughout the
day.
Explore South Jersey’s rich cultural traditions in the Down Jersey
Folklife Center. Opening July 10, “Native to Neo: Folk Arts From
Oaxaca.”
Visit the Ceramics Studio where talented artists use traditional hand
throwing techniques and turn a cold lump of clay into a variety of
beautifully decorated vessels.
Watch the manipulation of slender glass rods in an intense flame in the
Flameworking Studio. The flameworker creates colorful marbles, fancy beads
and intricate miniatures right before your eyes.
You’ll see the woodcarver transform a plain block of wood into a finely
detailed duck decoy or shorebird in the Woodcarving Studio. Or, discover
the art of “whittling” as the artist shapes a piece of wood into a
delightful children’s toy.
Browse through the finest selection of one-of-a-kind, handcrafted gift
items for your home, for yourself and for giving, in our wonderful museum
stores. The kids will love the General Store with its fabulous penny candy
counter. Plus, on the Village green, you’ll find the Brownstone Emporium,
Christmas Shop (open year round), Arthur Gorham Paperweight Shop and the
Gallery of Fine Craft. Our stores offer free gift wrapping, boxes and bows
for all of your purchases. Shipping is also available.
Travel back in time and take a scenic ride through the South Jersey
Pinelands on the half-scale C. P. Huntington Train.
Dine
at the PaperWaiter Restaurant and Pub or picnic on 50 acres of
recreational grounds. Both the restaurant and the Country Inn by
CarlsonŽ are conveniently located adjacent to the Village.
The
Village offers year round special events, exhibitions and programs for the
entire family. There is no admission charge to shop or stroll at Wheaton
Village except during outdoor events. All attractions are included with
the price of admission. Free parking available.
