Mission & Philosophy
The Crossroads School is a small, private, non-profit coeducational school for youngsters aged 5 to 15 whose learning profiles indicate average or above academic potential, but who process language differently and as a result have difficulty in conventional schools. Crossroads strongly believes that every person deserves the best opportunity for a superior education in a caring, supportive environment.
Educational Objectives
The curriculum at Crossroads is representative of traditional academic programs. The school employs a structured, multisensory, language-based approach and focuses directly on identifying learning strategies most suited to each student. The program builds upon the strengths each student possesses and provides intensive, individualized remediation in areas of weakness through small group and one-to-one instruction.
Our goals are:
To provide each student with genuine understanding of his or her own particular learning profile so that he or she may become a confident, self-advocating learner
To provide a strong academic foundation
To refer each student to a suitable school at the appropriate time
To help educate parents, teachers, and the larger community about learning differences and how best to work with and educate children with such differences
