South Jersey Women Have a Friend in Cooper University Hospital
By Tanya Kenevich
Women’s health is important for the proper growth of our children, as well as the generations that haven’t even been thought of yet. Cooper University Hospital’s Women’s Health Program is a great way to protect your daughter, your sister, your mother and even yourself.
With its impressive list of programs available, you know that you are getting the best care possible. In fact, the Women’s Health Program boasts over 78 specialties, including female cardiology and proper prenatal care run by excellent licensed doctors.
The Women’s Health Program focuses on many problems that should always be addressed, including gynecology and obstetrics, breast care, women’s and infant’s health, breastfeeding and reproductive hormonal disorders. Other programs include arthritis/osteoporosis/rheumatology, continence care for women, dermatology, heart care, gynecologic cancers, genetics, stroke care, diabetes care and more.
These programs give women the health information that wasn’t always so readily available. In fact, strokes used to be seen as only affecting men, but recent data has shown that female strokes are becoming a bigger threat than cancer. According to Cooper University Hospital, strokes affect 500,000 people a year and have become the third leading cause of death in the United States. Cooper University Hospital shows patients how to monitor their health, and to be able to notice warning signs of a stroke, before it’s too late.
When a woman feels a lump after her monthly self-examination, the first thought is, “Oh no, it’s cancer!” This is, most of the time, not the case. This is also why semi-annual breast exams by professionals are important for breast care and to subtract a little less stress in your life.
The Cooper University Hospital has been meeting the needs of women for years, because women’s health is too precious to ignore.
