Volunteers Needs For Golden Spoons

If you have some time on your hands, or if your teen needs some volunteer experience, which helps them learn the joy in helping others and also looks great on a college resume, then think of the Raritan Bay Medical Center. The center needs volunteers for its Golden Spoons program to help provide comfort, caring, and assistance to patients during mealtime. The program runs during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, seven days a week. Volunteers can make a difference simply by donating 30 to 90 minutes of time before or after work. Any schedule can be accommodated and convenient times can be set up for participation. Interested individuals should call Susan Pasternack, Volunteer Services, at (732) 324-5006 to register for orientation.

The da Vinci® S Surgical System: A Helping Hand

Surgery just became a little bit easier in Monmouth and Ocean counties thanks to the Monmouth Medical Center’s acquisition of the da Vinci® S Surgical System. The system combines computer and robotic technologies with the skills of a surgeon to create a new category of surgical treatment that allows doctors to a broader range of conditions using a minimally invasive approach. Not only are clinical outcomes improved, but doctors can perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with greater precision, superior visualization, enhanced dexterity, and ergonomic comfort for the optimal performance of minimally invasive surgery.

Capital Health System Among the Nation’s Best

The Capital Health System (CHS) in Trenton ranks on par with some of the best hospitals in the country (think Johns Hopkins) when it comes to Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The hospital’s unit has been rated as a national center of excellence by The Advisory Board Company, a 2,500-member group of the most progressive health systems and medical centers in the United States. Of particular note are the reduced care variation, respiratory care, and infection control in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The hospital has the only Level III NICU in Mercer County, which is dedicated to working with area obstetricians to minimize complications for high-risk mothers and ensure the healthiest pregnancies possible.
