Lehigh Valley Sports Academy Scores Big AT KEYSTONE STATE GAMES
Eight Local Gymnasts Qualify for State Games of America in Colorado Springs,
CO. July 29-August 2nd, 2009
Gold, silver and bonze medals were all collected at the 2009 Keystone State
Games competition for girls' gymnastics held at Spirit Gymnastics, North Wales,
PA. The big winners included 8 Lehigh Valley gymnasts who train at the Lehigh
Valley Sports Academy adjacent to the Lehigh Valley International Airport.
In the Level 5 session, Dariah Csuvay, (Whitehall), took home a gold medal on
vault and beam, and a silver medal on floor exercise on her way to a gold medal
for the all around competition, with an overall score of 35.400. Autumn Kandt,(Coopersburg),
bronze medal on floor exercise and Madison Skrapits, (Nazareth), gold on uneven
bars, both joined Csuvay in qualifying for the State Games of America, Colorado
Springs, CO.
In the Level 4 session, Caroline Marzano, (Northampton), captured the gold in
the all around competition with a score of 36.575. Her gold and three silver
medals on the individual events secured an invitation to the State Games of
America. Also invited to compete in Colorado are Arielle DeTorres,
(Saylorsburg), 3rd in the all around competition with a score of 36.025,
including a gold medal on beam and bronze on both vault and uneven bars and Leah
Belman, (Allentown), bronze on beam.
Earlier in the weekend, Gillian Velarde, (Allentown) earned an invitation to
the national event with a silver medal and a score of 8.9 on the uneven bars in
the Level 8 Optional competition. Cheyenne Stickel, (Hellertown) completed the
strong showing by LVSA at the Keystone State Games, with a gold medal on the
uneven bars in the Level 10 Optional competition.
